At the end of July, we had the opportunity to transform an old driveway that was chipping, cracking, and just totally deteriorating.
We learned that the driveway had been poured some 15 years ago. Our client decided on a Stained Concrete design for their courtyard/driveway area. With all the heavy chipping, we highly recommended this coating as it was able to hide pretty much all of the deterioration, as well as add to the stain’s overall effect. We are Central Ohio’s number one Stained Concrete Contractor and will work with you to make your design a reality.
At this point, you may be wondering how we accomplish this concrete coating for a client. I would like to walk you through exactly how we make this happen, we are stained concrete contractors that are experts in making your design a reality.
We have 4 main steps in this coating process: Preparation, Coating, Stain, Sealer. Our first step in the preparation process for this project we diamond ground the driveway and then we pressure washed all the dust out of the pores. This step allows us to get a really good bonding surface for our decorative concrete coatings to adhere.
The following day, we come back and start applying our coating. For this Tuscan Slate design, we first put down a dark grey base coat. This means we covered the entire driveway surface with this base coat. From there, we came back later that day to apply the Tuscan design over top giving it a natural look.
Following the design, the next day we applied the stain that our client had chose for their driveway – that color being a grey slate design.
Lastly, after clean up, we applied an acrylic sealer over top of our stain to protect the color of the stain from fading and from the design deteriorating.
